Looking for Gluten Free Menu Options at Brewsters?

Our first visit to Brewsters lasted all of 5 minutes.

We sat down, explained the gluten free restrictions, and was told that everything is basically deep fried in beer batter, so just have the salad. "okay, good bye".

Well, recently I decided to ask Brewsters on Twitter if they ever thought of brewing a gluten free beer.  Unfortunately they said they did not have the equipment.  Which was unfortunate.  I had only asked because Meredith sent me an article about a brewer in Ontario that started brewing a gluten free beer and was totally caught off guard by the demand.  I thought it would be a good opportunity.

Anyway, I thought to ask again about gluten free menu options at their Edmonton restaurants and I got some better answers than the first time. Gluten Free Menu Options:
  • BBQ Salmon and Spinach Salad (No BBQ Sauce)
  • Nachos
  • Wings with certain sauce (Not a dedicated fryer)
  • 8oz sirloin
  • Candied pecan salad
  • Fries (Dedicated fryer)
  • Lobster/artichoke Dip (With Nachos to dip)
  • Long beach salad
  • Steak and Sangria Salad
  • Butter Chicken (no naan)
  • Caesar salad (no croutons)
  • Some soups are gluten free
So essentially there is not a whole lot to eat, and there are risks of cross contamination.  I think of visiting Brewsters in Edmonton for eating gluten free like I do when going to Earl's; which is, not our choice to eat here, but if you had to go there, that is what you can try to eat.

  1. Yes, both Brewsters and Earls get me to encourage my dining companions to try something like Red Robin, or Joey Tomatoes.

    Edmonton has some terrific options.

  2. That opening statement is hilarious. That sums up most of my gluten free dining experiences. "Ok, goodbye."
