Urban Diner Gluten Free Brunch

Since I moved to Edmonton, I noticed how much Edmontonians love their brunch.  My 5 years here in Edmonton with Amanda who is from Edmonton has had me turn into one of those brunch lovers.  Since Amanda was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, we have not done so many brunches because of limited options.  We love La Crema Cafe but you can only go to one place so many times before you it gets old on you.  Places like Denny's and Ricky's All Day Grill work as well, but really, only for omelettes.

When a couple friends suggested to go to Urban Diner, we thought, why not?  Amanda called ahead and found out there is quite a bit of gluten free options, especially since they carry gluten free bread.

On our visit we went with two gluten free eaters, Amanda and our good friend RL.  The wait staff are very familiar with the menu and what is gluten free and what is not.  They also are happy to ask the kitchen staff to confirm if needed.  So please bother them if you have questions.

So what was ordered gluten free on this visit?  RL went for the Urban Diner french toast (gluten free), which is topped with cranberry/Mascarpone, Maple Fried Bananas.  RL just ordered it minus the mascarpone because she like many other Celiac's try to avoid dairy.  And oh boy did it look and taste great (yes of course I sampled).

Amanda ordered the Diner Hash, something Amanda was surprised she was able to order, but quite happy she was able too.  It was served with two eggs any way you want, and gluten free bread.  Something she looks forward to ordering again (and me picking off her plate too!)
