Today I went to the Sherbrooke Liquor (St Albert trail and 118th ave) store and noticed quite a bit of gluten free items...I bought a gf beer called Estrella Daura. I was more than impressed every other gf beer I've tried is awful, this one tasted like beer!
The price is a little steep, but it seems like everything gluten free is....it comes in 4 pks for approx $13.99.
I just wanted to share in case any of my fellow celiacs are dying to have a " cold one" that tastes like the old days! :)
Update July 3rd, 2010:
Estrella Daura can also be found at Liquor Barn at Capilano Mall.

  3. There are other places to get GF beer too - and most will bring it in for you (if you ask nicely).

I have tried La Messagére beer (http://www.justhereforthebeer.com/beer%20of%20the%20week112.htm) and found it a good enough pilsner. It's also available at Metro downtown - but I'm not sure I'd recommend eating here if you are looking for GF food.

I have not been able to confirm if my favourite beer is Gluten Free though - EFES rice beer from Turkey. Comes in a light (pilsner) or dark. I understand that the Budweiser group has developed a beer (in the USA) called RedBridge that IS GF. Haven't looked for it yet up here.

  6. I haven't heard that kind of product as well. Well, people with Celiac's disease will surely love this one. As for me, wines can make me happy. Reviews about the latest wine compels me to buy wine online. Anyway, I look forward to tasting this gluten free beer. I don't have a celiac's disease but it's worth a try for sure.

  7. Why don't you just buy Australian wine because they are healthier and taste better that beer. That probably is more expensive but the price is worth it.

  8. There is Menisa Liquor in South Edmonton, where they have the best selection I have seen so far. Must Check!

  9. I have seen some at Shop Rite Liquor, newly opened at 124 Street and 115 Ave. 11447 124 Street, awesome prices on regular stuff but has Gluten Free!

  10. Estrella is not entirely gluten free for those of you who are celiac. It contains 6 parts per million and is only labelled gluten free because legally in Canada anything under 20 parts is considered to be 'free'. This will still cause harm for those who are celiac.
